Student Exchange Programme
Information on how to apply for a place as a visiting student
Applications are now being accepted for the whole of the school year 2015-16.
We welcome students from Steiner (Waldorf) Schools in Europe and further afield to attend our classes 8, 9 and 10 for one term, two terms or one year. We aim to have an international group of overseas students and often have students from France, Germany, Holland, Scandinavia or Switzerland.
Overseas students are fully integrated in our classes and follow the Steiner School Curriculum used worldwide. The students are helped along by teachers, students and host families, especially at the beginning of their stay. Visiting students often remark on the "family like" nature of our school (300 pupils in total). A report is issued at the end of every overseas student's stay.
The cost for tuition (including trips and activities) varies according to the class and what is happening in each term. For full details please read the information below.
Visiting students stay with experienced families of the school and are guaranteed a warm welcome. Full checks are carried out to ensure the suitability of families and premises. The accommodation cost for 2014-15 is £130 per week (and will stay the same for 2015-16) including board and lodging, and transport to and from school.
There are 5 steps to the application procedure
Please follow them in order and please read all the information before sending anything1. Read the following documents: these give you some idea of what a stay at our school is like. Soon we will be able to add more detailed information (with photos!), so keep checking this page for the latest information!

Please note that we have a limit of four new students who speak any one language in a class each term, so there may sometimes be restrictions on who can apply – this most often affects German speakers. If students have already been at the school for one term or more, they are not counted in the allocation for their language. You can see below who is already booked to come in each term - those who have spent at least one term in our school are listed as 'returning' students. Sometimes we allow people on exchange with our students to come in addition to the visiting student allocation.

After the Ecology Main Lesson, the UK students spend 3 or 4 weeks of Main Lesson (Epoch) time revising for these exams. The overseas students have English as a Foreign Language Main Lesson, and complete individual projects, so this term is only suitable for students who are able to work some of the time on their own work (with supervision from teachers, but not that much direction). After the exams have finished, the whole class works on producing a play (including the sets and costumes) and a magazine, but there are no other lessons.
