For children between the ages of 3 to 6 the early childhood atmosphere is like a warm loving home.
Up to the age of seven, teaching works with the children’s will, through activity, and through imitation.
There are strong weekly rhythms, which include handicraft, baking, painting, woodwork and gardening.
The day follows a regular rhythm of creative play, songs and counting games, little lunch, outdoor play and story time, an activity such as food preparation, bread making, painting or modelling, then ring-time including songs and counting games, morning snack, outdoor play and story time.
Daily story telling nurtures the imagination and develops the love of literature.
There is also a seasonal rhythm and festivals are celebrated through the year.
In line with other Steiner schools in the country we have applied for exemption from certain aspects of the new Early Years Foundation Stage Legislation. There are clearly areas that are incompatible with our approach to Early Years teaching.
