The Council of Trustees is the school's proprietor and governing body.
The role of the Council of Trustees is to represent the members of the South Devon Steiner School Association (the "corporate trustee") and to promote and protect the interests of the school. For more information on the School Association and how to join please contact the Council. Individuals are appointed to Council by members of the School Association at its AGM and between AGMs new members may be co-opted by Council who will then be confirmed at the next AGM. Council members are accountable to the School Association for their work. Minutes of Council meetings, AGMs and any EGMs are available here. The Council of Trustees has a number of vacancies, and warmly invites individuals who are interested in taking on this demanding and ultimately very rewarding role, to please contact the Council Secretary for more information. Council Chair rob.worthington@steiner-south-devon.org Rob’s profession is a business analyst working on international community development projects and he runs his own business. His skills amongst others are leadership, finance, strategy, management and funding. His role in relation to the OFSTED framework includes Part 1 Quality of Education, Part 2 Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils, Part 6 Provision of Information and Part 8 Quality of Leadership and Management in schools. ![]() Juliet Crittenden
Trustee and Council Member responsible for Safeguarding (Designated Senior Safeguarding Person) and Vulnerable Pupils juliet.crittenden@steiner-south-devon.org Former Chair of the School Council 2010-13 and 2018-2020 Juliet has been voluntarily involved with the school for 33 years, initially in management and subsequently as a trustee. During that time she has completed numerous trainings in governance and in safeguarding and attended workshops with the Steiner Waldorf Schools Fellowship (SWSF) on quality of education from a governance point of view. She is enrolled on the Prelude Foundation Course in Steiner Education 2020-2021 run by the Association of Steiner Waldorf Teacher Educators (ASWTE). Juliet is a UKCP registered psychotherapist in private practice. Juliet is involved in the following aspects of the OFSTED framework: Part 1 Quality of Education, Part 2 Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils, Part 3 Welfare Health and Safety of Pupils, Part 4 Suitability of Staff Supply Staff and Proprietors and Part 8 Quality of Leadership and Management in schools. ![]() Nicola Edgcombe
Trustee (Parent) and Council Member Nicola is a Solicitor and Director of a law firm specialising in Property Law, also undertaking a management and supervisory role. She holds responsibility for dealing with staff grievances and concerns and complaints (Parts 7 & 8 of the Independent School Standards). ![]() Ben Whately
