If the rain doesn’t get you in Devon - the Super Soaker will! This clever, simple contraption - conceptualised by Alastair Gets, a parent at the South Devon Steiner School - kept the visitors to the school’s annual Summer Fair held last weekend entertained - and wet - for hours on end. Children delighted in trying to hit the target with tennis balls, and watching with glee as a bucket of water emptied all over the poor victim sitting underneath! Parents as well as teachers offered themselves up to help boost the fundraising effort.
The Fair was a great success with great food, games, activities and ambience. New to this year’s fair was a revitalised eating area, branded The Green Room, delicious shabby chic cream teas and loads of fun games for the kids to play including the Super Soaker, Human Fruit Machine, the Toilet Roll Toss, Guess the Marbles (sponsored by the House of Marbles) and the Slippery Pole.
Children also loved the angel labyrinth, woodland craft and coconut shy, not to mention the pizzas!! Many of the stalls were run and managed by the children of the school, giving them a great sense of responsibility and community.
