Four dedicated Dad’s from South Devon Steiner School completed the Buckfastleigh to Totnes Raft Race, last Sunday 9th October.
Max Thomas, Stu Gray, Mark Drewell and Andrew Venning designed and built a superb raft with recycled materials provided by the school. The fearless four then launched it onto the Dart, on a bright but chilly morning, to paddle the 14km to the finish line. They completed the race in just over 5 hours, setting a somewhat leisurely pace to allow themselves time for an on board barbeque!
Max Thomas said “I am not sure I quite made the link in my head, of the money and the school during the race, but the donations we have received gave some righteousness to the struggle”. He continued “A part of the money we raised (hopefully nearly £400 when counted) will go to setting up a Just Giving account to make the process of raising funds for the school, easier in the future”.
Tara Davis from South Devon Steiner School commented “We are very grateful to Max, Stu, Mark and Andrew for their fantastic fund raising efforts. The school is a registered charity so every penny raised helps us to support children to be at the school, and to develop our facilities”.
