We wheeled out King Winter today - in public - for the first time ever! And what a reception we got! Boys and girls from St Johns and Grove School came long to an afternoon of stories and craft - what a great combination. King Winter was the guest star and what a treat to see the faces of the children when they first saw him walk in! Thank you to King Winter (aka John Platt) for all his hard work to pull this off!
Don't forget that King Winter will be our special guest at the Advent Fair on 21 November from 11am - 5pm! He is doing a fabulous fireside story play, incorporating a lantern parade.
Here is the letter of thanks we received from Totnes library - thank you to Ann Draisey for organising the event and having us along!

Thanks so much for today! It was an absolutely brilliant afternoon, and the kids had a fantastic time! King Winter was very impressive, what a great costume, and lovely storytelling. We had some great feedback from the teachers and all your scrolls were taken away. Here is a little write-up that I’ve sent to our library bulletin.
"Totnes Library was host to a very special guest this week – King Winter, a dramatic storyteller with a wonderful outfit complete with sparkly beard! In a project with the South Devon Steiner school, who have created the magnificent character of King Winter, classes from two local schools came to the library for our wintry themed event, and looked flabbergasted as King Winter strode in. He wasn’t too scary though, and in fact was very kind, and he told us a lovely Russian folk tale called ‘The Little Daughter of the Snow’ about a childless couple who build a snow daughter. After the story we all did some crafting, making snowflakes, firework pictures and autumnal colouring. The children were really excited with their creations, especially when they used cellophane to make snowflakes with coloured windows! Some of their creations will be displayed in the library, but lots of the children couldn’t wait to show them off at home. The teachers were very full of praise, one saying ‘this was amazing!’ and another saying how brilliant it is that the library is doing more events like this. We had an enquiry about school visits in the future too. A fantastic afternoon was had by all."
