by Declan Elsholtz, Class 8
This year I had the idea of a Student Council for our school and took it to the Lower School Chair to discuss. The teachers discussed the possibility in their department meetings, and agreed to explore. I am happy to announce that they gave the idea their support, and since then we have been helping the Council to get on its feet.
The main aim of the Council is to create a stronger relationship between the pupils and teachers and give students a say in matters that affect them. A couple of weeks ago, we voted in two representatives from each of the classes from 6 to 10.
Class 6: Vivien and Lauri
Class 7: Octavia and Riley
Class 8: William and Maisie
Class 9: Ariel and Ilse
Class 10: Marcia and Josh
As well as the elected representatives from each class, I am the Student Liaison Officer - responsible for supporting the Council from a student’s perspective, and Anne Acland and Mark Hunt are the Teacher
Liaison Officers - helping support the Council practically and in the teaching body.
We have also elected within the council the following roles:
Chairperson: Ariel
Deputy Chairperson: Ilse
Secretary: Vivien
Deputy Secretary: Masie
We look forward to keeping you up to date with our progress.
