I want to wish a hearty congratulations and a warm goodbye to our lovely Class 10 of 2014/15 as they move off towards their futures.
I have very much enjoyed observing them overcome their individual challenges and learn to know themselves so that they can achieve their best. As usual, I am in awe of the leaps and bounds that some of our students have made in the two years of their time with us, whether it has been on a social or academic level.
Our Upper School strives to produce confident, articulate and centred young men and women who can go out and share their gifts with the world, and although they have a few more years in education, my hope is that they go with energy and enthusiasm to continue to learn and grow.
This year our students have embarked on various types of courses, from BETCs and A-levels to the International Baccalaureate in a wide range of Further Education organisations. The students of our school are invariably diverse and individual in their interests and this is shown in the many different subjects they are pursuing such as Hair, Makeup and Media, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Creative Writing, Politics, Sociology, Art, English Literature, Photography and Psychology amongst others.
We are very proud to announce the successful completion of the Level 1 Steiner School Certificate. The majority of certificates awarded this year have been achieved with merit or distinction, showing how well this class ten have taken to this programme of assessment.
The GCSE results have also shown the hard work that the class have put into their studies this year. However, I have to add that it is gratifying as a teacher that, because the SSC does not just use one way of assessing our students, we can see their true abilities and the diversity of their interests while continuing to deliver a Steiner-based curriculum; and of course that is why we exist as a school.
As parents and teachers we are driven by the urge to give these children an education which puts the developing human being at its heart and exercises all aspects of the students’ physical, emotional and intellectual being.
Every year, together with my other colleagues, I make relationships with my students and together we invest our time and will into creating a place where we can all flourish. Because this relationship is developed out of mutual respect, I feel very much invested in how my ‘friends’ fare in their next steps in life.
We wish them good luck and give blessings to them all where ever they find themselves.
